This research project was funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) Insight Development Grants Competition. Co-led by Renée Monchalin, Monique Auger, and Charlotte Loppie from the University of Victoria, and Research Assistant’s Carly Jones and Willow Paul, the goal of this project was to explore the relevance and appropriateness of health and social services for Métis women, two-spirit, and gender diverse community members living, working and using services in Victoria, British Columbia.

In an effort to improve access to health and social services that are culturally safe for Métis Peoples in Victoria, our team co-developed a fact sheet based on our research results, and in partnership with the Victoria Métis community. Fact sheet development was led by our stellar Research Assistant, Carly Jones.
Community Report
This report shares results from the conversations that we had with Métis women, two-spirit, and gender diverse community members living in and/or accessing health and social services in Victoria, British Columbia. The themes from the conversations surround Métis identity, service access, racism and discrimination, COVID-19, and recommendations on how to improve service access in Victoria.
